Andrew Fisher took over from on 1 May, replacing acting regional secretary Jimmy Woods, who is retiring after many years of service to the union.
Mr Fisher was previously a regional organiser in the northwest region, a position he has held since 1999. Before working for Ucatt he was a joiner.
“I am determined to ensure that construction workers in the northwest receive the best possible service from the union,” he said. “Construction employers must realise that workers have rights and Ucatt will make sure that they are fully defended.”
