For the past two years he has been north and national sales manager at Liebherr. Before that, he was in the Terex sales team.
Mr Higgott originally trained as a mechanic with a leading plant hire firm.
“I like the way Bell does business and feel that this appointment has been the right move for the way I work,” he said.
His new boss Nick Learoyd added: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Richard on board. He’s developed a strong sales skillset throughout his career to date, which should prove a great benefit to our existing sales and marketing operation.”
