Toby Underwood and Ian Green of PricewaterhouseCoopers have been appointed joint administrators after the company was unable to renew its banking facilities.
The company was set up in 1981 and includes mechanical, electrical and plumbing subsidiary Gilwood Mast and plant hirer D&K Machinery & Plant, which boasts “the most modern excavator fleet on the northeast”.
According to local press reports, Dorin managing director Richard Brown has separately launched D&K Hire Services and taken back on 20 staff from D&K Machinery & Plant.
Company turnover was in the region of £15m. The firm’s most recent accounts show that it made a pre-tax loss of £287,000 in the 12 months to June 30 2009, compared with a pre-tax profit of £304,000 in the previous year.
