Ocon completes phase two at £42 million Nottingham scheme

27 Jan 11 Ocon has completed Phase Two of its £42 million ‘Opal 1 Nottingham’ student accommodation project, bringing the total number of units handed over on the scheme to 650.

Designed by Lewis & Hickey, the scheme comprises nine student accommodation blocks, which will create a student village of more than 1,000 units on a ten acre site. Phase Two involved construction of Block B, a 164 unit student accommodation building with ground floor retail space that is already occupied by major name tenants including Lidl and Dominos Pizza.  Phase Two was completed on time and within budget and follows the successful completion of Blocks A, C & D which were handed over in summer 2009.  Ocon has now moved on to Phase Three, which will see the firm construct a further three student accommodation blocks before the entire scheme is completed in September 2011.

Comments Malcolm Lyon, Ocon’s project manager: “As specialists in the student accommodation sector we have been able to rise to the challenge of this significant scheme and have now handed over two phases on time and within budget.  Phase Three is now well underway and we are on course to deliver this final stage on time too.”
