The 3.5 acre site, west of Coatbridge and just off the M8, has detailed planning consent for some 65,000 sq ft. of office space across nine pavilions.
Drumpellier Business Park is being developed by a partnership of Fusion Assets Ltd, North Lanarkshire Council’s regeneration company, and Stirling-based Ogilvie Group Developments.
The cost of these works is being part-funded through the Vacant and Derelict Land Fund, a Scottish government programme for bringing long-term vacant and derelict land into use.
Ogilvie Construction is carrying out the initial infrastructure, including ground works, installing drainage and utilities. Steven Tolson, director of Ogilvie Group Developments, said: “We’re pleased to be starting work on site. These initial works should speed up the commissioning of the new office buildings across the site, and make us more responsive to businesses interested in locating at Drumpellier.”
He added: “The overall aim is to create a business village, offering a number of small to medium-sized offices for established and growing businesses.
