OHL lands €270m Chilean port deal

3 Apr 13 OHL Concessions has won the contract for a new terminal at the Port of Valparaíso, Chile.

Valparaíso Port Company (EPV) has awarded OHL a 30 year concession. OHL will invest €270m to double the current capacity of the port.

The new container terminal, which is scheduled to come into service in 2017, will serve both import and export and will have the capacity for simultaneous operation of at least two huge super-post-panamax vessels.

The site covers 13.6ha and the terminal will have the ability to handle an annual traffic of about 950,000 TEUs and 1,250,000t of merchandise.

This project is OHL Concessions’ third award of in the port sector. It is already working on the southern extension of the Port of Alicante and Tenerife Container Terminal, both in Spain.
