Order book boost for Renew

30 Jan 13 The order book of engineering services group Renew is up 18% on this time last year thanks to water and rail contract awards.

When Renew shareholders meet today for the company’s annual general meeting, chairman Roy Harrison OBE will tell them that trading since October has been ‘satisfactory’ and in line with expectations.

Group order book at 31 December 2012 was £340m (31 Dec 2011: £289m). The engineering services order book stood at £245m, up24% from the £197m a year earlier.

Engineering services contracts picked up since the company’s financial year-end of 30 September 2012 include a second job under Northumbrian Water’s trunk mains cleaning framework for subsidiary Seymour.

Another subsidiary, Amco Rail, has secured £29m of orders in the quarter, including more than £13m for bridge, tunnel and viaduct works.

In November 2012, Sellafield appointed Shepley Engineers as one of three contractors to deliver work packages worth a potential £280m over four years under the new multi-discipline site works framework.
