Peoplesafe share lone worker safety expertise at major health and safety event

3 May 11 Lone worker safety experts Peoplesafe offer an insight into risks facing staff and how their employers can best protect them when they attend the Safety & Health Expo.

The company’s stand at next month’s event features a ‘learning zone’ where visitors can go for notes and guidance on all aspects of lone working, including legislation.

It is hoped the area will be a helpful starting point for company owners or managers unsure of their responsibilities towards staff vulnerable to injury, illness or attack.

Also Peoplesafe’s specialised monitoring services will be on display via a demo area which shows just how alerts are handled.

The show, at Birmingham NEC from May 17 to 19, is Europe’s largest annual event for the industry attracting leading manufacturers, distributors and suppliers.  Peoplesafe will have stand S76 in Hall 2.

Managing director Ian Johannessen said:  “Whatever the industry or application, we believe our service is unrivalled such is the high expertise level combined with our innovative systems.

“We want to use the show as an opportunity to share our knowledge on the issues and also to demonstrate the lengths we go to ensure clients’ needs are met.

“This might be carrying out risk assessments, training, signal tests, updating information, or providing usage reports – just of the few of the many elements that have to be in place for staff to feel confident.  All this is of course in addition to showcasing our existing and latest products.”

Peoplesafe offer devices with various check and alert options - even ‘man-down’ - to protect staff whether they work alone on or off-site, or are in remote locations.  GPS tracking means that managers can get a view of the current location of all workers as well as opt to see where an employee has been at any time previously.

The devices include the award-winning Identicom, which is disguised as an identity card holder.  Newer to the range are the Sonim XP3 Sentinel, the world’s most rugged mobile phone built to withstand extreme temperatures, shock and water, and the EX2 version, which can be used safely in areas at risk of explosion.

In addition, Peoplesafe integrate their unique software application in to compatible Personal Digital Assistants, BlackBerrys and Smartphones.

It is estimated there are 6.8 million lone workers in the UK who could be at risk of sudden illness, injury or violence.  Legislative rulings such as the Corporate Manslaughter Act 2008 mean that bosses now have a legal responsibility for ensuring the safety of employees out in the field.

While many of its competitors offer a limited range tied to specific suppliers, Peoplesafe operate independently of any device manufacturer and has a large installed base of a variety of users in a number of risk environments.

Clients include retailers Argos, Halfords and Carphone Warehouse, house builders Persimmon and TaylorWimpey and global steel manufacturers Tata Steel.
