Prefab framework widens out

7 Feb 22 Public sector procurement alliance LHC is rejigging the next iteration of its framework for modular house-builders and is inviting expressions of interest.

LHC is seeking housing contractors and manufacturers for its Modern Methods of Construction of New Homes (NH3) framework  that will launch across England, Scotland and Wales later this year.

The framework will allow local authorities, social landlords and other contracting authorities to source housing, apartments, multi-occupancy buildings including care homes, sheltered accommodation and student accommodation.

Where the previous framework covered prefabricated volumetric units and panelised kit systems, LHC hopes to include a wider range of construction methods in its updated NH3 framework.

Head of technical procurement Dean Fazackerley said: “NH3 aims to support local authorities in their journey to net zero using a range of MMC [modern methods of construction] and by developing collaboration, and aggregation of demand between clients and the supply chain to deliver significant improvement in the social value and community benefits whilst supporting local housing needs.”

The previous framework, NH2, has been for 42 projects across the country worth a total of £93.5m.

Firms on the existing NH2 framework include BWF Construction Services, CCG, Engie Regeneration, Hadden Construction, Hatch, Homes Accelerator, Ilke Homes, Impact Modular, Innovare Systems, ISO Spaces South West, Kenton Jones, LoCal Homes, Module-AR, Rollalong and Zed Pods.

The framework is run by LHC’s various regional operations – Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA), Consortium Procurement Construction (CPC), Welsh Procurement Alliance (WPA), South West Procurement Alliance (SWPA) and LHC London & South East.
