The 14,500 square metre Pride Park Arena will include a 250m indoor cycling track and a 1.5km outdoor closed cycle circuit. The playing area within the track will be large enough for 12 badminton courts. The arena will also house a large gym and exercise studios as well as catering and hospitality facilities.
The Arena has been designed to host a wide range of sports and hold an audience of 5,000.
“We have designed an iconic building which will compliment Pride Park Stadium, but will also function as a stand-alone facility” said Mace project director David Grose. “The sculptured form will be very striking, exhibiting fluidity and movement to reflect the activities taking place inside.”
Contract notices will be published in the Official Journal of the European Journal (OJEU) later this month.
