Stephen Beechey is promoted from managing director for education and investments to group strategy director and managing director for government affairs. He also takes charge of all group communications and corporate affairs.
Mr Beechey joined Wates in 2010 from Laing O’Rourke. He has also previously worked for Jarvis and Carillion.
At Wates, Mr, Beechey is credited with the creation of the contractor’s Adapt Schools Solutions model, designed to reduce the cost of school buildings.
Chief executive Andrew Davies said: “Wates is extremely proud to be industry-leading in the education sector and this is a reputation that Stephen has been instrumental in building. His appointment as group strategy director will substantially strengthen our group-wide business growth as we move into 2015, driving our focus on maintaining and building on our existing relationships with key government organisations.”
