Pump maker sets up rental operation

30 Apr 13 Pioneer Pump has set up a UK pump hire business, called Pioneer Pump Solutions (PPS).

PPS has started life with an initial fleet of 200 diesel sets and three branches around the UK. A fourth branch is planned.

Pioneer Pump, owned by American company Franklin Electric, has factories in both the UK and the USA.

The new hire business is targeting construction contractors, utility companies and mineral processing companies.

“We spent a long time researching the market and identified that there was an unmet need for higher performing equipment with lower running costs and smaller environmental footprints,” said PPS managing director Tom Nicholson.

“We have carefully designed our fleet to provide superior performance by combining Pioneer fluid ends with high performance engines such as those built by JCB. A significant portion of our fleet is designed around the JCB 444 engine, which gives us power outputs from 60kw right through to 120kw. This enables us to offer very low fuel burn and high output, meaning our customers will use less fuel and release fewer emissions in terms of gases and noise, the most important aspects of any project today.”
