Ramboll stakes claim on US market

26 May 11 Ramboll is now represented in the USA, with the opening of an office in the New York metropolitan area focussed on waste-to-energy, offshore wind and district energy projects.

Ramboll's energy division has been active in North America for the past seven years, working as a strategic advisor and technical specialist.  The new office is intended to enable full project support to North American clients in the energy sector, from planning to implementation.

Stephen C Schwarz has been appointed as country director of Ramboll USA. He has been vice president of the US environmental engineering consultancy Malcolm Pirnie and has a long track record of waste management projects. One of these is the West Palm Beach, which Ramboll is presently working on.

The establishment of an office in the USA is in line with the strategy for growth of Ramboll's energy division. The division recently acquired 110 power specialists from Dong Energy and opened an office in Switzerland to gain a firmer foothold in the Central European market. The division has the ambition to grow to 700 staff by 2012 through acquisitions combined with organic growth.
