Repeat business for Mansell in the education sector

7 Feb 11 Mansell has been appointed by Norfolk County Council to construct a single storey extension to the existing Solar Suite, at Wayland High School.

This contract represents the third undertaken on this site, all of which were designed by the NPS Group; the first being a £1.3 million new classroom block, which was completed in 2006.

In 2009 Mansell constructed a pioneering Vocational Training Centre for construction trades at Wayland Community High School. This facility includes classrooms for teaching electrics, bricklaying, plumbing, carpentry and engineering courses and is the culmination of many years of endeavour by both the school and Mansell to invest in the future of construction. In conjunction with the school, the team won the ‘Best Industry - Education Link’ Award at the 2010 Eastern Daily Press Business Awards for this project and the continuing support they provide to shape the lives of local young people.

The current project will form a Special Resource Base and will provide two classrooms, two meeting rooms, an office, store, kitchenette and toilets. The facility will be linked to the existing building via an entrance corridor and is being sympathetically built to match in with the existing buildings.

Our School Liaison Officer will utilise the construction process of the project as the basis for regular activities for local pupils.

Headteacher at the school, Michael Rose said, “The philosophy of serving our local community is one which both Mansell and Wayland Community High School embrace.”

Work has started on site with project completion expected prior to the commencement of the new school year in September 2011.
