Rivermeade properties rely on Catnic performance

14 Mar 12 A development of half a dozen executive style homes in one of the country’s most picturesque towns has been built using steel lintels manufactured by Catnic; selected for their strength, reliability and ease of installation.

Rivermeade in Welford-on-Avon, near Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, is an enclave of six detached properties built by Greenhall Construction for Templeoak, a company concentrating on the upper end of the housing market.  The traditionally constructed dwellings offer four-bedroom accommodation, plus garage with workroom/study above, all built to a very high specification.

The developer, Keith Greenhall, comments: “Templeoak builds up to a dozen properties a year and has also recently completed four stylish new homes at Greatworth near Banbury. We pride ourselves on high quality construction and have used Catnic lintels for many years now.

“Not only is Catnic a household name that the industry knows it can rely on, but they are also very straightforward to install, and nowadays feature the Duplex anti-corrosion protection. For the six properties at Rivermeade, we used the CG90 lintels in various lengths, erecting 100 mm Thermalite blockwork inner leaf and fully filling the 100 mm cavity with mineral wool to achieve a U-value of 0.2 W/m2K; so of course having an insulated lintel is also important.”

Externally the Rivermeade houses show a stone plinth, with the toe of the Catnic lintels either supporting russet brickwork or dense concrete blockwork clad with larch boarding.

Each of the properties required more than a dozen of the Catnic lintels - varying in quantity and size depending on layout – all of which were supplied through the Stratford-upon-Avon branch of Jewson.

Catnic lintels are manufactured from hot-dipped galvanized steel.  For the unique Duplex corrosion protection, a coating of thermal setting polyester powder is applied by an electrostatic process.  High temperature curing then produces a tough durable surface to enable the product to be highly resistant to impact, abrasion and damage; this enables ease of on-site handling.

All of Catnic’s lintels have gained the approval of the regulatory authorities both in the domestic and international market assuring designers, specifiers and builders the high quality of the product.  With this, they are designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with BS EN 845-2:2003 and are certified by the British Board of Agrément.
