Safety and Sustainability Awards for Henry Boot Construction

4 May 11 Henry Boot Construction Ltd, a trading subsidiary of Henry Boot PLC, has received a number of prestigious awards for their commitment to health and safety, sustainability and the environment within the last four weeks.

The company achieved a RoSPA Gold Award for the second consecutive year in March, with the certificate due to be presented at a ceremony in mid-May. The nationally recognised award highlights their commitment to achieving the highest standards throughout all operations and the strong health and safety culture within the organisation.

In addition to this success, the company has also received two ‘Committed to Construction in the East Midlands’ Awards from the Chartered Institute of Building’s East Midlands branch, for ‘Health and Safety’ and ‘Excellence and Quality’. The CIOB recognised Henry Boot Construction’s achievements because of their outstanding track record in health and safety, effective supply chain management systems and a culture of excellence and quality. The awards ceremony was held in Leicester at the end of March.

Environmental achievements were further recognised following the receipt of a ‘Green Apple Award 2011’ this week. The awards are part of a campaign to find Britain’s greenest companies and winners will feature in The Green Book, a leading international work of reference for best practice in green construction. The category of award will be confirmed at a ceremony at the University of Westminster in June.

The company has also received a nomination for the RICS Pro-Yorkshire ‘Sustainability Award’ for their work on the Shirecliffe New Homes site in Sheffield. RICS judges are visiting the site and head office this month to see first-hand the innovative techniques employed by the company. The site has attracted a number of accolades, including a RIBA Housing Design Award, and also featured in a recent edition of Eco Building Magazine thanks to a Henry Boot Construction-funded research and development project to increase a pilot property from Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 to 5.

The awards are known locally as the ‘property Oscars’ and celebrate the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land and property. The ceremony will be held in Leeds on 20th May.
