Safety videos for working at height

15 Mar 13 The Access Industry Forum (AIF) has added five new videos to its Video Toolbox Talks (VTT) series.

The talks offer expert advice on using a variety of work-at-height equipment. Each runs for about ten minutes and include an online test to ensure that viewers have understood their content.

They can be viewed for free online at www.accessindustryforum.org.uk/vtt.htm.

Different AIF member organisations address different issues. The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) talks about planning an emergency rescue using mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and about preventing entrapment using a MEWP; the Ladder Association explains how to inspect a ladder; the Association of Technical Lightning & Access Specialists (ATLAS) offers best practice guidance for steeplejacks: and Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training (FASET) discusses the maintenance and test requirements of safety nets.

AIF director Neil Tomlinson said: “These talks come from industry-specific experts, with every member organisation well versed in the issues relating to their fields. Previous Toolbox Talks have proven particularly effective in allowing contractors and clients to keep up to date with the latest industry developments, and these videos are useful to anyone who works at height.”

There are now 15 toolbox talks on the AIF website.
