Scaffolding goes up as Ocon builds on Liverpool reputation

9 May 11 Scaffolding is now being erected at Ocon Construction’s £5 million student accommodation scheme on London Road in Liverpool and will grow with the structure on a storey by storey basis.

Developed by Westville Developments, Part of the Parkmooor Group, the scheme comprises 100 student accommodation bedrooms, along with basement and ground floor retail units.  The basement and ground floor have been constructed using a concrete transfer deck and the remaining five storeys of student accommodation will be of timber frame construction, using panels of timber and ply pre-fabricated off site.  Specialist contractor, Network Scaffolding, will construct scaffolding one storey at a time while each of the timber frame storeys is put in place.

The scheme has been on site since September 2010 and will complete by 1st September 2011, ready for the 2011/2012 academic year.  It continues Ocon’s strong links with Liverpool: the company has already completed a 515-unit development, Opal Court, on London Road in the city and is currently also on site on a £34 million student accommodation scheme for the University of Liverpool.
