SES on track to start work on Kings Cross Central

14 Feb 11 SES is pleased to announce that it has been appointed as the building services contractor on the new Kings Cross Central development - Building R4, which is being developed by a consortium led by Developers, Argent Estates in London.

The new 14 storey social housing development will comprise of two main cores with clusters of apartments surrounding each. 117 apartments in total – 15 supported housing apartments, 77 general needs social rented apartments, and 25 shared ownership apartments. The apartments will sit above two commercial units at ground floor and a private courtyard space.

Working with Carillion Construction, the London & South East Division of SES will be responsible for the design and installation of the mechanical and electrical (M&E) services on the first residential building on the scheme. This multi-million pound M&E project is expected to get underway this summer and be completed early in 2012.

Derek Joiner, Divisional Director for SES, London & South East division said, “A fundamental part of our delivery on this project will be the early engagement and use of our off-site prefabrication facility - SES PRISM. Constructing services modules in a factory environment and delivering them to site not only helps reduce delivery and congestion concerns in the city centre, but is gives us total control over timings, quality and costs of the programme, from the outset.”

Recognised for its first class completion of the Piccadilly Place redevelopment in the heart of Manchester with Argent and Carillion in 2010, SES was a natural choice to be part of the team on the new project. John Rodaway, Account Director for Carillion Construction, confirms that “SES was a major contributor to the success of Piccadilly Place, to such an extent that we nominated them as one of our preferredBuilding Engineering Services Contractors for the Kings Cross redevelopment project.
