Severn Trent Water to Trial Polypipe WMS Ridgistorm-XL

3 Feb 11 Polypipe Water Management Solutions (WMS), the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic sustainable drainage and water management products, has received approval from Severn Trent Water for the use of its innovative Ridgistorm-XL large diameter pipe system in both Capital Works and Section 104 schemes.

Since its launch in 2008 Polypipe WMS has received approval from eight other water companies for the Ridgistorm-XL system, alongside its WRc certification for 750-2100mm diameter fittings, pipes and manholes (certificate number PT284/0609).

Kevin Gaunt, Design and Build Standards manager at Severn Trent Water, commented:  “Polypipe WMS’s Ridgistorm-XL product offers many benefits, one of which is the opportunity for a bespoke design for individual sites.  We have worked closely with Polypipe WMS and are keen to use the product.”

Each Ridgistorm-XL pipe system is designed as an individual, value-engineered solution which meets the requirements of the project by calculating specific pipe stiffness and profile design. This reduces the amount of material within the pipeline, increasing the product’s cost-effectiveness.The system also utilises unique patented electro-fusion jointing to ensure 100% seal tightness.

Rachel Smith, Marketing Manager for Polypipe WMS commented:  “Accreditation and approval of our products forms a central element of our new product development, and we were delighted to receive approval from Severn Trent Water.  High level approvals, such as this one, demonstrate the proven performance of our products.  With the move to more adoptable SUDS driven by the Floods and Water Management Act, we’re very pleased that another water company has shown its confidence in our Ridgistorm-XL system.”
