SHIFT adds Diamond to the collection

24 Jan 11 Diamond Build, one of the UK’s top contractors, has become a principle sponsor of nationwide sustainability initiative, SHIFT.

The Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow (SHIFT) is the only comprehensive environmental benchmark for affordable housing providers. It is supported by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), WWF, UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) and the Mayor of London and the 37 members represent over one million homes nationwide.

Diamond Build has also engaged Sustainable Homes to help assess and improve their approach to the environment.

Andrew Eagles, Managing Director of Sustainable Homes welcomed Diamond Build’s proactive commitment to improvement saying: “We are very pleased to have Diamond Build on board. They are a good fit for SHIFT with a large presence in the social housing sector and a pronounced commitment to corporate responsibility and environmental improvement.”

Diamond Build places much emphasis on environmental improvement, with all of the company’s projects and offices accredited to ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and BS OHSAS 18001 and Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme Approval. 50% of Diamond Build’s commercial fleet is from Renault’s “Green Fleet” range and the fleet is maintained regularly to reduce carbon emissions.

SHIFT is the comprehensive environmental benchmark for affordable housing providers. Members are accredited on a scale of Bronze to Platinum. SHIFT was launched in 2008 with 16 members. Results of the current assessment year will be announced in February 2011.
