Skanska to upgrade Swedish hospital

8 Jan 13 Skanska has signed a partnering agreement to carry out building and reconstruction work at the Central hospital in Karlstad, Sweden.

The value of the initial work on the contract for Värmland regional council is SEK370m.

During the first phase, Skanska will construct a new operation unit building, House 60, and substitute premises in the existing House 53 and House 54. The new operation unit has a total area of about 29,000m2 on four floors, including a garage.

The goal for the building is to be LEED Health Care certified to level gold. The building is planned to be completed the summer of 2016.

The construction of the substitute premises in the existing House 53 and House 54 includes new operation wards and reception halls. Work will start during this year and be completed by the summer of 2018.
