Skanska/Laing jv signs £151m street furniture PFI deal

20 Apr 11 A joint venture of Skanska and John Laing has closed on a £151m private finance initiative (PFI) project to supply 45,000 new street lighting columns and items of street furniture to the London boroughs of Croydon and Lewisham.

The 25-year project will see the 50/50 JV maintain all street lighting and traffic signals in the two boroughs, as well as installing new lighting and street furniture. The deal represents a capital expenditure of £80m and revenues of £71m.

The boroughs have been working on the deal since 2006 and were advised by law firm Pinsent Masons.
