SNC-Lavalin buys Aqua Data

3 Jun 11 Engineering and construction group SNC-Lavalin has announced the acquisition of Aqua Data, which specialises in the diagnosis and analysis of water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems.

Aqua Data has about 100 employees and works for municipal, commercial and industrial clients in locations including Quebec, Ontario, the Canadian Maritimes and the USA. Its head office is near Montreal, Canada.

“Municipalities across North America are concerned about asset management and investing in the renewal of their ageing water infrastructure and Aqua Data has the expertise to help us respond directly to these challenges,” said SNC-Lavalin Group executive vice-president Riadh Ben Aïssa. “This acquisition, combined with our existing expertise in urban engineering and construction, pavement management and engineering, and the environment, will broaden our service offering and allow us to provide even more complete and strategic solutions to our clients in this sector.”

Founded in 1987, Aqua Data specialises in diagnosing the condition of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, hydraulic modelling, unidirectional flushing programs and in the collection and structuring of data. Aqua Data work includes helping clients manage their infrastructure, plan the maintenance and renewal of operations and optimise their investments.

“This is a win-win situation for both our companies,” said Aqua Data president Francis Lebuis. “Our specialised expertise, proprietary equipment and computerised tools bring added value to SNC-Lavalin’s service offering, and Aqua Data will benefit from SNC-Lavalin’s global presence in the infrastructure and water sectors.”
