Southwark farms out more to Interserve

3 Jan 13 Interserve has won a five-year facilities management contract, worth £6m, to provide a range of support services at the London Borough of Southwark's headquarters.

Interserve has been delivering cleaning services, including daily office cleans, washroom cleaning and window cleaning, and pest control services to the council since 2004. This new facilities management contract now also includes maintenance and engineering services, inter-site mail, security and vending services at the offices in Tooley Street.

"Our headquarter building is extremely busy, with around 2,200 members of staff working in a modern office environment,” said Southwark Council head of facilities management Matthew Hunt. “It was important to select a supplier we could work in partnership with to bring innovation and continuous improvement to service standards, which is why we selected Interserve, who we have successfully worked with over the last eight years."

Tony Sanders, managing director – commercial at Interserve, added: "The fact that we have not only retained but expanded the services we provide the London Borough of Southwark is testament to the value we can drive through outsourcing for our clients."
