Speedy names Rogerson as CEO

27 Jan 14 Speedy has appointed Mark Rogerson as its chief executive with effect from today.

Mr Rogerson steps up from chief operating officer, having been appointed to the board in December 2013. 

He joined Speedy in November 2013 from Costain, where he was briefly the managing director of the natural resources division. Prior to Costain, he was with Serco from 2004 to 2012.

Mr Rogerson spent the first 20 years of his career in the Royal Air Force, culminating in a stint as military general manager of London Air Traffic Centre and reaching the rank of wing commander.

Steve Corcoran now steps down from the board of Speedy and leaves the company.

As previously reported, Mr Corcoran handed in his resignation after accounting irregularities were uncovered in the accounts of the company’s Middle East operations.

Speedy chairman Ishbel Macpherson said: "The board and I are delighted that someone of Mark's calibre and drive has taken up the challenge to lead Speedy at this exciting point in its development. We look forward to working with him. On behalf of the board I would also like to acknowledge Steve's significant contribution to Speedy over 25 years. Steve has been at the forefront in the transformation of Speedy and I would like to personally thank him for his commitment and leadership and wish him well in his future career."

Mark Rogerson said: "I am very excited to have been offered the opportunity to lead Speedy at a time when our nation's economy and growth are recovering. Speedy's breadth of assets, depth of capabilities and the passion of our people will enable us to differentiate our service offering, and I very much look forward to working with our customers to ensure we deliver exceptional outcomes for them."
