Speedy selects self-employment experts Hudson Contract

11 Apr 11 Hudson Contract has partnered with equipment rental giant Speedy, and will provide its full portfolio of services to Speedy Assist, a new members-only service for tradesmen and SMEs.

"We are looking forward to showing Speedy Assist members how to be better equipped to compete for business, while simultaneously reducing their tax and employment liabilities to zero,” says Contracts Director Ian Anfield.

“Thousands of construction companies are still too scared to use self-employed labour in case they fall foul of HMRC’s strict status requirements and end up with huge penalties and fines. But PAYE is not the only way – and we will show Speedy Assist members how best to profit from the flexibility that freelance builders deliver.  On average, we help companies save 20% on their labour costs, making them instantly better equipped to win new business.

“Then there are the SMEs whose contracts of self-employment work just fine – until an HMRC status inspection decides the documentation isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.  That can prove so costly that firms have no option but to go into administration.

“All Speedy Assist members will be entitled to a free CIS compliance health check on their current arrangements, and will be able to tap into our wealth of knowledge and experience in relation to employment tribunals and gross payment status.”

John Byrne, product development director at Speedy adds:  “We selected Hudson Contract because they are the only organisation that passes HMRC’s ‘due diligence for labour providers’ requirements.  Additionally, they will offer Speedy Assist members a 100% guaranteed indemnity that covers them against the financial consequences of an HMRC compliance investigation or an employment tribunal case.
