Stewart Milne Construction Bags £3m Commercial Contracts

2 Mar 11 Stewart Milne Construction, one of Scotland’s leading construction companies, has won £3 million of new commercial contracts.

Following its success in 2010 in gaining a number of contracts across different sectors, the company’s most recent awards include contracts for research and retail refurbishments in Dundee and Perth plus a new industrial unit in Cumbernauld.

At the NCR Discovery Centre in Dundee, Stewart Milne Construction will refurbish three lab areas, which involves work on general office space plus the construction of new craneage and test facilities, including a rain test area.  Opened in 2002, the £20 million research centre is NCR’s Global HQ of R&D and the refurbishment contract is Stewart Milne Construction’s first with the technology giant.

In Perth, the company will refurbish the former Woolworths’ building on the town’s High Street.  The development, on behalf of Craigrossie Properties, involves full external and internal works to the existing 1960’s building, with potential for a new façade as well.  Meanwhile, in Cumbernauld, the design and build contractor has also secured a deal with road markings specialists, Markon, to build a new industrial unit in the town’s Wardpark Industrial Estate.

Bill Imlach, managing director of Stewart Milne Construction said: “While the market has obviously been challenging, we are pleased to see a steady stream of contracts coming through and that businesses are continuing to invest in their estates.  These contracts are welcome additions to the work already in the pipeline for 2011, and the Perth contract in particular could lead to future projects.  Having such good names in our portfolio is testament to our reputation in the commercial sector.”

The Dundee and Perth projects are expected to be completed by this coming Spring, with Cumbernauld due for completion in August.
