At the 2011 NHBC Health and Safety Awards, Garry, site manager at the Wallace Gardens development in Stirling, received Best Site in the North within the Medium Housebuilder category.
Hosted in Birmingham, the NHBC awards were created by the independent standard-setting body in 2009 to reward home builders who keep health and safety at the top of their agenda, in spite of the difficulties of the recession. The Best Site category is designed to recognise the unique role that site managers play in safeguarding health and safety on site, and the company infrastructure that supports them.
Garry, a site manager for two years, identified teamwork as the key to success at Wallace Gardens: “This is the second time in as many years that Wallace Gardens has been recognised within the NHBC Best Site category. If it wasn’t for the impressive level of teamwork across the site, this award would not have been possible. Co-operation, especially between the Stewart Milne Homes team and our contractors, is the key to ensuring every detail of the site meets company standards and is achieved to the best quality possible.”
Meanwhile, David Mowbry, site manager for the company’s Construction division, received Commended in the Best Site Multi-Storey category for the private housing project in Ravelstone, Edinburgh.
