The £11m project, whose initial development phase is due to be completed in June 2011, set out to develop the world’s first continuously manufactured dye sensitised photovoltaic product on steel for building applications.
The companies have just about completed work on photovoltaic cell architecture on steel, the roof component designs, the manufacturing processes and the raw materials requirements. Taking it to the next stage will move it from laboratory to the ‘pre-industrial phase’.
Activity at the PV Accelerator Centre will be scaled up, with the number of people working on the project increased from 30 to 50.
