Technical Academy showroom showcases sustainable construction solutions

31 May 11 Trainees at Saint-Gobain’s new Technical Academy in Leicestershire can see a wide range of the latest products and systems for new build, refurbishment and non-residential applications in the centre’s specially designed showroom.

This complements the range of classroom based and practical courses offered at the new facility.

The showroom will help to demonstrate how products and technologies from Saint-Gobain companies including British Gypsum, Ecophon, Isover, Saint-Gobain Glass, Solaglas and Weber can be used to create more energy efficient and comfortable buildings.

Products and systems in the showroom will be updated on a regular basis, providing delegates with an up to the minute guide to the sustainable solutions they can use to comply with current and forthcoming legislation.

Renovation solutions currently on display include internal wall insulation for solid walls using British Gypsum plasterboard and Saint-Gobain Isover insulation, external wall insulation and flooring systems from Weber, as well as high-efficiency glazing products from Saint-Gobain Glass and Solaglas.

For the new build market, Saint-Gobain will be showcasing a number of solutions for walls and partitions.  These include timber frame external wall systems to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Levels 4 and 6, internal partitions and masonry cavity and masonry separating wall constructions.

In addition, a range of non-residential solutions will be displayed.  Suitable for a range of applications including commercial, education, healthcare and public sector projects, these include HVAC products from Saint-Gobain Isover, acoustic systems from Ecophon, as well as a steel frame new build construction incorporating products from Weber, Saint-Gobain Isover and British Gypsum.

Jonathan Cherry, head of product marketing for British Gypsum, comments:  “The showroom at our Technical Academy is designed to support our range of training courses by showing details of different construction types and systems.  It will show delegates how products from across our businesses can be used together to create solutions which maximise the efficiency of the building envelope to meet and exceed current Building Regulations or Code for Sustainable Homes criteria.

“We have categorised the systems on display to show residential new build and renovation, as well as commercial solutions.  However, many of our products can be used across these sectors and our training offer will be designed to equip delegates with the skills and knowledge to specify and install with confidence, whatever the application.”
