Top building contractor opens new office in Bristol

11 Feb 11 Thriving property solutions firm, Strategic Team Group, has backed up its expansion into the south west by opening a new office in Bristol and employing three new construction professionals to co-ordinate and manage the growing number of contracts secured in the area.

The opening of the new office located at Caswell Park, Caswell Lane, Clapton in Gordano, Bristol follows recent contract wins, in south Wales, Devon, Cornwall and Hampshire, for the firm which is based in Castleford, Yorkshire and has offices in Glasgow and Stockport.

The new office benefits from an unrivalled position on the edge of Portbury Village, providing direct access to the M5 and gateway to the south west.

Over the last nine months the Strategic Team Group has secured numerous new contracts in the south and south west, which range from the prestigious project of upgrading Swansea’s railway station, worth £2.4 million on behalf of Arriva Trains Wales and rail improvement work including new ticket gate lines at Exeter station, refurbishment work at Truro station, to improved accessibility for disabled passengers and parking facilities at Romsey station collectively worth £1m on behalf of First Great Western.

Strategic Team Group Bristol will be run by three former Rok Building employees, including operations manager, Matt Tyler from Catcott, Somerset, who will lead the team.  A quantity surveyor and contracts manager by profession, Matt joins the firm with over 20 years of experience in the building and maintenance industry.  His expertise lies in maximising efficiencies and generating new business opportunities, with a proven track record in construction, social housing, retail, commercial and residential.

Matt will be joined by two longstanding, former Rok Building colleagues, contracts manager, Mike Catley from Hanham, Bristol and senior quantity surveyor, Simon McCahon from Weston-Super-Mare.  Mike has spent 25 years in the construction industry, where he has progressed from a painter and decorator to project manager and has spent the last five years as contracts / construction manager.  Mike brings a wealth of experience and is well respected within his field.  Simon has spent the last 17 years reporting on all aspects of surveying across many industry sectors and together with his attention to detail, he will give the firm a solid and reliable commercial base for organic growth.
