Turner & Townsend boosts its scores in Africa

20 Apr 11 Turner & Townsend Africa has improved its score on an African rating system that is used by clients in selecting business partners and suppliers.

The company has now achieved a Level 4 Contributor rating in terms of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) codes of conduct, significantly improving from its previous rating of Level 6.

This rating serves as formal recognition of the company’s commitment to transformation in South Africa and globally. “As a responsible corporate citizen, our teams in Africa have always sought to ensure participation of all people in the economy, in order to achieve sustainable growth for all. We are delighted that our ongoing contribution to socioeconomic development, skills upliftment and internal transformation has been acknowledged in this way,” said the company.

"We realise that the Level 4 rating adds tremendous value to the company, as BBBEE compliance is important to our clients when choosing a business partner or supplier,” said managing director Ian Donaldson. “We believe that Turner & Townsend now offers both existing and prospective clients even greater value for their investment as they are able to claim in excess of 100% of spend against their procurement targets based on our Level 4 rating and our value adding supplier status."
