The company already offers a broad range of project, cost management and contract services for clients in the region. It now expects to see the project portfolio and staff numbers grow across Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya, with the permanent base in Kampala also serving as an East Africa hub.

The Kampala office was officially launched at an event attended by the minister of trade and industry, the Rt Honourable Amelia Kyambadde, the minster of state for engineering investment, Dr Ajedra Aridru, and the British High Commissioner, Alice Blackburne, alongside key industry representatives.

“East Africa is one of the fastest growing regions in the world and there is a huge amount of opportunity to make a difference across a number of sectors, especially in the delivery of major infrastructure schemes,” said Turner & Townsend managing director, Africa, Ian Donaldson. “Turner & Townsend is experiencing steady growth as awareness of our capabilities spreads throughout East Africa and we look forward to building strong and lasting relationships, sharing international expertise and implementing local knowledge and skills on behalf of our clients, which currently include the government of Uganda, Tullow Oil and the Institute of Tropical Agriculture.”
