The workers lost their jobs when Redhall Engineering was thrown off the site on 14 March.

The GMB demonstration is scheduled to target the AGM of BP, one of the partners in the Vivergo Fuels consortium, being held on Thursday morning at the London Excel Centre.

GMB says that talks convened by ACAS in Wakefield on Sunday ended when the employers walked out of the talks.

GMB is starting a hardship fund with an initial donation of £100,000 for the Saltend workers. It is issuing an appeal for further funds from other parts of the trade union movement and is putting in place arrangements for financial support from all engineering construction sites in the UK.

A national meeting of shop stewards from all the engineering construction sites in the UK is scheduled for 18 April to discuss “the deterioration in industrial relations in the industry”.
