US forces seek UK construction intel

21 Jun 11 US Visiting Forces (USVF) are hosting an ‘industry day’ conference at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk for interested contractors on 13-14 July 2011.

The event is an opportunity for contractors to learn more about what work is available at RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall and RAF Alconbury, and the forms of contracts that are used.

The US visiting forces 48th Civil Engineer Squadron and 48th Contracting Squadron at RAF Lakenheath want to meet contractors to gauge their interest and to assess the capabilities, experience and qualifications of service providers.

The conference will include a presentation on the Simplified Acquisition Base Engineer (SABER) contract method and an opportunity for contractors to meet government representatives.

USVF hopes to develop framework arrangements that it calls IDIQ (indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity) contracts for works valued in the range of $2,000 to $750,000 (£125k-£470k).

The purpose of the event for USVF is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities, and qualifications of service providers and construction firms.

Due to security restrictions, contractors must be registered in advance.
