Vinci lands €42.5m contract in Togo

29 Feb 12 Bolloré Africa Logistics has awarded Vinci the contract to plan and build a third container berth in the port of Lomé, in Togo.

The work, worth €42.5m (£36m), will be carried out by a consortium of three group subsidiaries: Soletanche Bachy (leader), Sogea-Satom and EMCC. It will involve creating a 450m-long quay wall using the ‘combi-wall’ method of steel tubes and sheet piling. Its construction will require 1,900,000m3 of dredging. The project will enable the installation of the quay equipment, crane and gantry rails.

The extension is aimed providing Togo with one of the most efficient ports in West Africa, capable of handling the latest generation of container ships. Work will start in May and should take 18 months to complete.
