Vinci/Theiss JV scoops €400 LNG contract

20 Feb 12 A joint venture of Theiss and two Vinci subsidiaries has won a contract worth €400m (£332m) for liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks in Australia.

Entrepose Projets, Vinci Construction Grands Projets and Leighton subsidiary Thiess will carry out the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the two full-containment tanks of 150,000m3 each as well as two condensate storage tanks with a capacity of 120,000m3 each.

The contract is forecast to create about 475 jobs in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. It is for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone project, a domestic gas and LNG project managed by Bechtel Australia.

Work will start immediately with construction taking place from 2013 to 2016.
