WALLTITE® PU spray foam insulation ~ Ecobuild 2011 BASF STAND NO: N510

11 Jan 11 Following the successful launch of WALLTITE® BASF Polyurethane UK Limited will be advising visiting specifiers on how to use WALLTITE® to meet and exceed new Part L building regulations using this thermally efficient, airtight spray foam insulant.

During 2010 WALLTITE® has been endorsed by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) for its retrofit projects as part of their rethinking refurbishment initiative. WALLTITE® has been specified and installed at two major research programmes; the Green House Project procured by Huntingdonshire District Council and the Victorian Terrace, at BRE Watford.  In the Watford project, BASF helped to transform a disused Victorian stable block into a 21st century living and exhibition space. The completed building is a now a significant demonstration project which aims to bring about a step change in the housing agenda by highlighting the significant contribution refurbishment can play in reducing UK carbon emissions and encouraging industry to raise standards of practice.

WALLTITE® is a seamless spray system which can be applied to internal walls and roofs.  Once cured, it leaves a highly efficient form of insulation , resulting in as much as a 30% decrease in thermal transmission and an airtight building envelope of low permeability.

Efficient in both materials and the time it takes to install, no supplementary material is required to make the system thermally efficient.

A typical solid wall installation of 100mm in thickness can achieve a U value of 0.24W/m²k, whilst in roof applications a thickness of 150mm will give a target U value of  0.18W/m²K, complying with the requirements for the new Part L1B of the Building Regulations.

Related Information

By virtually eliminating air leakage, WALLTITE® with its closed cell structure helps control the movement of vapour and moisture throughout the building, reducing the risk of condensation and mould.

WALLTITE® also provides the specifier with complete design freedom as the spray foam adapts to the shape of the substrate providing an ideal solution for insulating buildings with awkward geometry. The product is self-adhesive and stays fully bonded to the substrate, preventing any possible detachment, common with other types of insulation.

WALLTITE® is installed by trained professionals approved by BASF in the UK and a number of spray foam contractors have graduated from the BASF Foam Masters Academy programme during 2010, providing nationwide installer coverage.

WALLTITE® is also currently awaiting BBA certification.
