Consulting engineer in recruiting mode

12 Feb 14 Consulting engineer WSP is aiming to grow its staffing levels by 25% in the next two years from 15,000 to 20,000.

As part of the expansion plan, it has announced several new senior hires and promotions to start the year.

Tom Smith has been promoted to global director for property and buildings. He has been with WSP since 1994 and has held a number of senior positions in the UK, Middle East and India. 

Peter Lloyd joins from Aecom as senior technical director responsible for the Manchester and Leeds offices of WSP’s building structures business.

Alan Gravatt, previously of NIFES Consulting Group, joins WSP as associate director of transaction services.

Senior transport modeller Yan Zhu rejoins WSP from the University of Cambridge’s Department for Architecture, having previously worked for WSP between 2004 and 2010 in the Cambridge Policy & Research team. An expert on land use modelling, transport demand and all forms of data analysis, she will be working for the London transport modelling team in WSP’s development business.

Dr Gui Gui has joined WSP’s Cambridge office as a principal engineer. She joins from JMP where she worked on micro-simulation and traffic assignment and will be working with Yan Zhu on the Cambridge Sub Regional Model.

Also, as previously reported, Julie Carrier has been recruited from Amey to head up its rail business.
