WYG expands international business

12 Mar 14 WYG is expanding its international business with the acquisition of a specialist consultancy, Delta Partnership Solutions.

The international development consultancy was formed in 2000. Its permanent consultants work with a network of associates and focus on improving the lives of people living in poverty.

Delta has worked with a range of clients including the governments of Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, the bi-lateral aid agencies of Norway, Canada, Belgium, the UK and Sweden, as well as a broad range of non-government organisations and foundations. Delta is based in the UK and has offices in Nairobi, Kenya and Kampala, Uganda.

Delta was founded by Mike Thomson who will be WYG’s business development director for East Africa and Aileen Lyon, who will become WYG’s operations director for East Africa.

WYG chief executive officer Paul Hamer said that the acquisition of Delta will give a significant boost to WYG’s strategy of building its business through accessing new markets in Africa, and aligns with its increased focus on fragile and conflict affected states. “Delta will complement WYG’s capability both geographically and technically, enhancing key growth sectors such as governance, institutional reform and monitoring and evaluation,” he said.

Over the past 13 years, Delta has delivered over 200 development projects, the majority of which have been carried out in East Africa.  “We see great potential for WYG and Delta to expand business in the region and to benefit millions of disadvantaged people through urban development, adaption to climate change, conflict reduction, agricultural value-added, job creation, health improvement and other initiatives,” said a statement from Thomson and Lyon.
