BAM Construction Training defies Covid-19 slowdown with new CPCS Test Centre

2 Sep 20 BAM Construction Training (BAMCT), an award-winning CPCS-accredited training provider, has announced the launch of a new centre in Bath, Somerset in partnership with Mindset Training.

The Bath facility enables a greater number of aspiring and existing construction workers to access BAMCT’s range of industry leading CPCS courses and Mindset Training’s NPORS-accredited plant and groundworks programmes.

At a time when Covid-19 threatens livelihoods and efforts to counter a nationwide housing shortage, BAMCT has invested heavily to get the UK building. The new centre includes a brand-new telehandler training zone, loading-out tower and street-works education area, as well as fully-equipped classrooms and welfare facilities.

Further enhancements to plant, machinery and back-office technology at BAMCT’s existing centres across the South-East and Southern England are expected to increase organic lead generation and boost sales efficiency across the company.

Founded in 2011 by Neil McGuinness, Mindset Training is a pioneer of providing industry-leading education for the UK construction industry. The partnership will enable aspiring learners to benefit from the pair’s shared networks, regional knowledge and expertise.

Matt Durant, managing director at BAM Construction Training, said: “BAMCT is delighted to partner with Neil McGuinness, a true stalwart of the construction training industry. Neil’s passion and experience is evident in everything Mindset Training does, and the firm’s determination to provide training of the highest standard is in line with our own ambitions at BAMCT.”

BAMCT will also support the next generation of plant operatives with the launch of a new apprenticeship scheme in Bath, further details of which are to be announced in due course.

Bath represents BAMCT’s fifth dedicated training centre, with existing sites in Wokingham, Bracknell, Chippenham and Frome.

The centre is located within 30 minutes of the M4, and 15 minutes from Bath City Centre.

Matt Durant said: “2020 has been a year unlike anything we’ve seen before. Many industries are suffering, yet construction has seen the lowest dip in productivity during the Covid-19 pandemic. Sadly, there will be redundancies when the furlough scheme ends, however BAMCT will be on hand to provide aspiring and existing construction workers with the qualifications they need to explore a new career or progress in their field.”

Durant added: “It has been encouraging to see Boris Johnson’s ‘Build, Build, Build’ campaign and the Chancellor’s ‘Kickstart’ scheme, which we hope will help individuals to invest in their future and apply transferable skills to a new industry.”

BAM Constructing Training offers a variety of CPCS and NPORS courses, including NVQ’s with NOCN and PROQUAL Accreditations, as well as CITB Health and Safety Qualifications.

Our current most popular courses at the Bath facility are:

• CPCS Forward Tipping Dumper (A09)

• CPCS Telehandler (A17)
