Spraylat Inc. was founded in the United States of America in 1936, first producing peelable coatings for shoes and white wall tyres.
In 1992, the Caswell family acquired the rights to manufacture Spraylat products in the UK and Jon Caswell became the Managing Director of the newly formed Spraylat International Ltd, manufacturing paint for signs and temporary, peelable coatings. The company started in Kettering, Northamptonshire with a small team of just four staff. However, as the years progressed the company and the team expanded.
In the Summer of 1996, Protectapeel® was used for temporary advertising, not only for the UEFA European Football Championship but also across the pond for the Atlanta Olympics!
As interest in Protectapeel® was rapidly increasing and distribution started worldwide, Protectapeel® became more popular in other industries too, such as construction, and was used to protect glass during the construction of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
In 2009, Andrew Keir was appointed as Business Development Director, focusing on further accelerating the use of Protectapeel® worldwide. Sadly, however, in November 2009 Jon Caswell a much-loved manager and friend passed away suddenly.
Andrew Keir became the new Managing Director. He created a Technical Department to formulate new products and invested in new equipment as the company continued to increase its product range.
Protectapeel® products became predominantly water-based as their dependence upon solvent-based materials reduced and new materials such as; Hot Melt and UV Cure were launched to further support a more environmentally conscious business.
In 2020, Spraylat International Ltd, used the opportunity to develop a new service cycle, focusing upon the on-site needs of the customer. Demonstrations, a cost comparison calculator, application guides, applicator training, videos, and universal support were all made available, free of charge, to customers and potential customers. The new service cycle, as it is known, is helping to increase sales and improve customer satisfaction levels.
Nearing our 30th birthday, we are extremely proud of the work Spraylat International Ltd has dedicated to the manufacture and supply of Protectapeel® worldwide.
