Apollo wins £10m Sheffield council contract

10 May 11 Apollo has won a £10m contract to repair and refurbish Sheffield City Council housing stock.

The contractor will carry out external and Decent Homes work to properties around the city. It will deliver insulated over-cladding work to 1000 dwellings in 40 maisonette blocks of four-, five- and six-storeys on the Lansdowne and Hanover estates in central Sheffield. It will also provide digital TV upgrades for some 700 homes.  A further 200 properties will receive Decent Homes improvements work.

The two-year project, which begins next month, will be delivered by a workforce comprising both approved specialist subcontractors and directly employed labour.  Apollo will work with Sheffield City Council to offer local employment training opportunities.

Apollo regional director Dan Germann said: “Securing this substantial contract with Sheffield Council is testament to Apollo’s growing presence in our northern region.  Our competitive bid was evaluated on both quality and price, highlighting our high standards of work and our efficient approach to operational delivery.  We are very much looking forward to beginning work and to demonstrating over the next two years the benefits that Apollo can bring to the council and its residents.”

Following recent expansion in its northern region, Apollo is also relocating to larger offices in Sheffield’s Quadrant Business Centre.
