Arup picked for Sydney light rail

8 Mar 12 A team made up of Arup in association with Hassell and Aurecon has been selected for key roles on the recently announced strategic plan for light rail in Sydney, Australia.

The team will carry out the engineering, light rail systems and urban design technical advisor roles, working with Transport for NSW and local stakeholders.

Turner & Townsend had been appointed last month to provide cost planning services.

Arup CEO Peter Bailey said: "Light rail is an important part of the transport mix for Sydney, and this plan will aim to provide enhanced connections to key residential, education, health and sporting hubs around the city."

The Sydney Light Rail Strategic Plan is being developed by government to guide the potential future expansions of the light rail network.

It is intended to contribute to achieving the goals set out within the New South Wales government’s 10-year plan.
