Battery-powered skid-steer reaches UK

25 Jan 13 Electric vehicle supplier ePowerTrucks has extended its offering of battery-powered compact plant and materials handling equipment.

The company has become the official UK importer and distributor for the Sherpa 100 Eco all-electric mini skid-steer. At 76cm wide, this emissions-free machine is designed to pass through standard garden gates and interior doorways. With zero exhaust emissions, it is ideal for indoor demolition and remodelling work. It is also suitable for warehouse and logistics operations.

The Sherpa range is produced by Dutch manufacturer Hanenberg Materieel. The 100 Eco is its first fully battery-powered mini skid-steer. Prices start from £12,950.

Jerry Hanss, managing director of ePowerTrucks, said: “The Sherpa Eco 100 is a competitively-priced, robust and durable machine that also saves on operating and maintenance costs because it is all-electric. With zero exhaust emissions it has the flexibility to work indoors and out, making it an attractive hire product.”

The Sherpa 100 Eco is as powerful as the same model with combustion engine. It has a 2HP front-mounted electric motor and the space that would usually contain an engine is home to a 360A battery pack that powers the mini skid-steer. The manufacturer claims that it can work for up to eight hours between charges.

The excavator bucket can lift 110kg to a height of 2.5m or can carry up to 175kg when lowered. Turning radius is 2.25m (with excavator bucket attachment).

Available attachments include pallet forks, crane, glass lift (pictured below), hoist, brick carrier and various bucket types.
