Dublin tenders €150m runway

10 Aug 16 Bidding has opened this week for the design and construction of the north runway and associated taxiways at Dublin Airport.

The contract notice gives an estimated value of €150m (£128m). Work is expected to take two years.

In 2007, planning permission was granted for the airport to build a 3,110m runway, 1.6km north of the existing main runway. The project was put on hold in 2009 because of the economic downturn and subsequent fall in passenger numbers. However, there has now been a recovery in passenger numbers, particularly in the past two years.

The deadline for submissions in response to the the contract notice is noon on 5 September.
