Selected primarily due to their compact size, the units continue to look good four years on from their installation.
Built in the early 1900’s, Kimberley House presented an initial problem in terms of the usable floor space. To overcome this issue, Stuart Taylor from Rhodes Property Company needed to find a kitchen solution that would enable the space to be used as effectively as possible.
“We needed to find a compact kitchen solution that would utilise the minimal space available whilst also being aesthetically attractive to the tenant. After looking at the options available, Elfin Kitchens offered everything we were looking for to that effect”, said Stuart.
Manufactured from white powder coated stainless steel, Elfin Kitchens are available in a range of sizes depending on the installation. To ensure the best possible fit in each individual room, Elfin supplied 10 of its pre built compact kitchens in 1000, 1200 and 1500mm sizes allowing Stuart to tailor each room accordingly.
One of the key points Stuart wanted to overcome was the issue surrounding maintenance and upkeep of the kitchens: “The hard wearing nature of Elfin Kitchens made them ideal for this project”, said Stuart. “Nearly four years on from their initial installation they continue to look as good as new and have been able to stand up to the daily rigours of use”, he continued.
Due to the nature of the project, providing comfortable and affordable accommodation for key workers who, in many cases work long hours, there was an even greater need to ensure that compact kitchen units were supplied that would give the tenant the freedom to use the kitchen at any time of day without causing disturbance to others in the building, a point which can prove to be of particular note in houses of multiple occupation (HMO).
Similarly, from an aesthetic perspective, it was necessary to provide a series of kitchens that would enhance the properties themselves. Comprising a robust, white powder coated steel unit, the kitchen incorporates two hotplates, a combination oven, an ‘A rated’ fridge and a smart stainless steel sink complete with a monobloc mixer tap. Delivered to site as one complete unit, Elfin Kitchens simply require connection to an electricity supply and service pipe before being ready to use.
“Style, size and durability were the three key drivers for this project and we were keen to make sure that we met all parts. As such, Elfin Kitchens were able to provide everything required even down to the simplicity of installation due to the pre-built nature in which the units are supplied, making the entire project as simple as possible”, added Stuart.
