The plans include 40 extra care apartments, 40 apartments and 14 bungalows. The aim is to create a village where residents can continue to live independently but with support always to hand.
Building work is due to start on site next month with completion in mid-2014.
The development has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
Residents from the existing Croftside House will be moved to the new development, called Haddington Vale.
