The contract for Alabama Department of Transportation involves the interchange between I-59/20 and I-65 on the northwest side of Birmingham’s central business district.
The project includes new direct connector bridges to the downtown area, widening of existing bridges to improve operations for connection to future phases, as well as replacement of crossover bridges and improvements to the pavements of the main lanes.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late spring and is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2018.
